Roof collapsed during a tournament
The roof of the newly opened sports hall in Ceska Trebova collapsed during a game of a floorball tournament of the junior “regional talent” teams . Fortunately all the players, referees, audience and organisers managed to leave the hall on time, before any disaster had happened.
The roof started collapsing in the first minute of the last game of Saturday´s tournament program. The hall only has doors on one short side, luckily the roof started collapsing on the other end, which gave all the involved ones enough time to flee. Thanks to the fact, that it was the last game of the day, the stands were also much less full than during the day – instead of 150 spectators, there were only a few. There was a couple of small injuries – lacerations and ankle sprains, that were fixed by the coming ambulance.
The hall was officially opened last week and the floorball tournament was the very first event there. The Pardubice region, that has financed the hall, has paid 58 millions CZK. The reason for the collapsing is unknown, the police is investigating. There were speculations about too heavy a layer of snow on the roof.
