Another perfect floorball summer
As in the eleven previous years, the unihockey.ch Summer Camps took place in July. The four camps in Lenk, Sumiswald and Widnau were visited by more than 170 kids, who enjoyed themselves a great deal and had a lot of fun.
Led by experienced coaches (among them Wiler-Coach Thomas Berger and the former national team player Christine Zimmermann), floorball enthusiasts and interesting floorball personalities from Switzerland and abroad, they have tried out many new training methods, got good tips for their future sports progress and developped new friendships.
In- and outdoor activities
We can say that the weather was on our side despite its almost April like variation. In Lenk, where there are great facilities for the outdoor activities, we used them a lot while during the rainy week in Sumiswald the indoor facilities of the Forum Sportzentrum (indoor pool, bowling center) became very handy. The super-hot summer week in Widnau was not only spent with long hours in the hall but also with refreshing and relaxing hours at the outdoor pool.
The program of the camps offered a variety of activities and not all of them were strictly sportive. All the kids have taken part in a workshop organised by the Swiss Olympic prevention program “Cool and Clean”, raising hot and important themes like Social Media, Cyber mobbing and so on. Thanks to the representatives of the company Renew Group, the distributor of Unihoc and Zone, they could also learn more about the correct material while choosing a new floorball equipment and try out the newest trendy sticks and blades.
No language barriers
unihockey.ch and all its activities such as the website, the printed magazine, training days and camps have one common aim – to unite all those in Switzerland who have gotten addicted to the game with the punched plastic ball. This year, that was achieved literally, when we welcomed young players of different age from the German, French and Italian part of the country. It was fantastic to see how floorball tears apart the language or age barriers and everyone who just likes the game, can take a part.
We thank all the coaches who made those four camps possible. We also say thanks to all the kids for their inspiring enthusiasm and the parents for their support. We are already looking forward to next year’s camps – and in the mean time to our Training Days which will take place in December.
